Dr Costello specializes in interventional cardiology. In the hospital he performs heart catheterization, angiography, stenting of the coronary arteries, complex coronary intervention including atherectomy and lithotripsy, peripheral artery angiography and peripheral vascular interventions including atherectomy, balloon angioplasty and stenting. In the clinic he performs evaluations and consultations as well as treadmill stress testing, stress echocardiograms, nuclear stress tests, echocardiograms, and ambulatory monitoring. 

After completing his undergraduate degree in microbiology, Dr Costello researched viruses at a veterinary school in Copenhagen, Denmark. He went on to complete medical school at the University of Washington and his fellowships at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Dr. Costello has been a leader in Cardiology at each level of his career. He was the Chief Cardiology Fellow while in his fellowship program and actively trained new cardiology fellows while he was in his Interventional Cardiology training. He was the president of his prior group as well as the head of the Quality Committee for many years. He and his colleagues at High Desert Heart & Vascular continue to lead as they leave the hospital employed setting and grow a new and accessible independent Cardiovascular practice.
